The term ‘Haasje Over’ (Leap Frogging) typically does not immediately evoke thoughts of a building, but due to its unique spatial arrangement, this name is remarkably fitting. As this structure extends over the large hall of Area 51, it creates a dynamic interplay of masses in the public space. The limited space between the masses generates an interesting tension between the two buildings, Haasje Over and Area 51. To accentuate this tension further, lighting has been conceived to illuminate the underside of the significant cantilever with various colors and moving patterns. This imparts an additional role to the installation work underneath the overhang in the nocturnal ambiance of the building.
